Where To be used for soundproofing metal cuts, PVC and metal sewage pipes, industrial machinery as an acoustic curtain and air conditioning units.

Vibration Control and Damping Products. Tecsounds Visco Elastic Membrane can be used to mitigate vibration in panels and metal frames or it can be used to provide airborne and impact sound insulation between spaces.

MuteWrap is a flexible, easy to handle and high performing acoustic wrap for soundproofing a range of different servicing, from HVAC units to metal cladding.

More Information

It is problematic when you can hear the noise of a heating or air conditioning unit rattling; this rattling travels throughout the ducting or pipes and leads to vibration transferring through the structure. Waste pipes are exposed to similar issues, without adequate boxing in or a soundproofing solution, this makes for a slightly uncomfortable environment as silence descends over the room. These can all be solved by the use of our MuteWrap.

MuteWrap is a visco-elastic membrane, and this means it is both a viscous material, part way between a solid and a liquid, and has elastic properties, meaning that it returns to its original form when stresses within its limits are applied, like pulling an elastic band, if you pull it too hard it will break. For soundproofing, these are both effective in the damping of vibration, and because of its high mass, will reduce airborne noise too. Alongside this is a felt inside that helps to soften the noise transfer and it then finished with a protective foil meshing, one that can be applied to exposed ductwork to help fit into its ‘look’ when installing as a standalone without creating acoustic boxing.

Information

  • Soundproofing industrial ductwork
  • Soundproofing air conditioning units
  • Soundproofing waste pipes, both PVC and metal
  • Soundproofing internal of machinery to reduce vibration
MuteWrap is a visco-elastic material with a felt inside to increase it’s damping qualities, the finishing is protective aluminium mesh. Visco-elastic is a material that sits between the properties of a viscous substance (between a liquid and a solid, easily malleable) and an elastic material that both help to provide a material with the density to help sound proof against airborne noise issues, as well as reducing vibration by dissipating sound energy by turning it into heat.
MuteWrap’s temperature range is between -20°C to 60°C, anything above and below these could degrade the viscoelastic material and cause it to dry out. We would recommend applying Tecsound a dedicated acoustic plasterboard boxing to encase it. You will want to discuss these options with a registered plumbing expert to be sure of its compatibility.
The use of Mute Wrap for sound proofing waste pipes a the primary focus of the product, it is straightforward to cut and wrap around the pipe to help provide damping to any vibration and the assisting in sound proofing against airborne noise from waste travelling through the pipework. Cable Ties are used to secure the MuteWrap in place and the use of Aluminium Tape to maintain the external aesthetic.
The vapour and moisture levels in bathrooms and wet rooms could over time degrade the MuteWraps elasticity over time, it is recommended to use a Vapour or Moisture plasterboard boxing to protecting it from direct exposure, you will want to discuss the use of soundproof materials with a damp specialist in areas that could present damp issues over time.
MuteWrap is not designed for floor sound proofing; although a felt inside would appear to be suitable, it would offer little impact reduction as it is easily compressible. We have a wide range of soundproofing options for floors which you can view here.

More Information

There are long-term health effects that are now being connected with the exposure to noise, maintaining health and wellbeing is important in both homes and workplaces. With this in mind, it is important to find the right solution, one that can bring peace and quiet to your environment.

Tecsound S100 is a visco-elastic membrane, and this means it is both a viscous material, part way between a solid and a liquid, having elastic properties, meaning that it returns to its original form when stress is within its limits, like pulling an elastic band, if you pull it too hard it will break.

Tecsounds sweet spot for damping or ‘muting’ vibration does not often go into these ‘stresses’ in the majority of projects that need control over vibration.

Information

  • 4m x 1.2m x 5mm (4.8m2).
  • A visco-elastic membrane for damping vibration.
  • High mass for resisting airborne noise.
  • Self-adhesive application to a wide range of surfaces.
  • Easy to cut to size

For soundproofing, these are both effective for the damping of vibration, and because of its high mass, will reduce airborne noise too. To achieve the best possible solution on soundproofing projects, you will need to incorporate them into ‘Systems’, and it is here you will find Tecsound in a range of options. Each offers ways of increasing acoustic performance, for example, by fitting them alongside acoustic cradles to create a fully floating floor, by adding them to joist structures alongside sound insulation for a vast improvement for airborne and impact noise or use in concrete buildings as a standalone for impact reduction.

Tecsound S100 is a single ply material, one that is primarily designed to be installed within acoustic systems, or used to be directly applied to metal cladding to dampen vibration. Our acoustic test data and performance is based on an acoustic curtain, where Tecsound separates two rooms and then measures its performance. When factored into a ‘System’ this will change as you cannot add dB levels together, you can learn more on our ‘Science of Soundproofing’ page.

Tecsound S100 is a 5mm thick, visco-elastic membrane that is accompanied with a self-adhesive backing to make direct application simple and straightforward without the need for mechanical fixings, tacking or any additional adhesives. Visco (viscous, a thick and often sticky consistency) elastic (when stretched will often return to its original state) is a flexible, dense and easy to cut product that sits between both of these two properties turning sound energy into heat, dissipating the sound energy. Essentially this highly versatile sound proofing material is applicable for floors, walls and ceilings, for cinema rooms, for sound proofing your home or constructing composite acoustic systems along with our MuteClip® for optimal performance.
Reducing vibration in structures, especially metal structures, is one of Tecsound’s most astounding features, and it will be a change you notice immediately with direct application. The self-adhesive backing stay’s in contact with the surface – which is why we opt for self-adhesive. Energy from the vibration conducted into the Tecsound S100 and dissipated vastly dampening the resonance and removing the extended release of ringing heard in metal structures. Tecsound is used to reduce resonance between acoustic plasterboard and improve airborne performance, it is the most effective soundproofing systems that feature varying densities and material properties to break down frequencies in different ways, Paths of soundwaves move differently through different materials, some help to slow down its trajectory, others help to block it through mass.
Vibration travels significant distances in metal structures, and metal is, after all, a conductor of energy. For example, if you tap on a metal structure, you will hear it ring, think of playing the steel drum or a triangle, then tap on a wooden block. Which one has a longer decay time? The metal, right? Tecsound S100 is perfect for the use of sound proofing metal ducting against vibration, and this would often not require complete coverage of the ducting and maybe only in small parts. In cases where the metal ducting leaks sound, we will aim to wrap the ducting to reduce sound transmission fully.
Tecsound S100 temperature range is between -20°C to 60°C, anything above and below these could compromise performance with direct contact with the pipes, it is best to create a form of acoustic boxing around these pipes and apply Tecsound to the acoustic plasterboard boxing, something you will want to discuss with a plumbing specialist to be sure it is compatible.
Waste moving through waste pipes can make for an uncomfortable environment, especially if they lack any acoustic treatment. Tecsound S100 can be used to soundproof waste flues, and you should aim to box in the waste pipe to improve the sound proofing performance. As an alternative, our MuteWrap™ works exceptionally well against sound proofing waste piping.
Bathrooms and wet rooms contain high amounts of vapour and moisture, which in time will begin to degrade the Tecsound’s adhesive qualities and possibly damage the elasticity over time. We recommend to use a Vapour or Moisture plasterboard protecting it from any exposure, and it is most common that Moisture Board is used internally in bathrooms to preserve the soundproofing materials beyond it. Vapour Boards concern primarily external walls, so when damp is expected in any of these areas, you will want to discuss the use of soundproof materials with a damp specialist in these placements.
Tecsound S100, when hung as a curtain reduces sound at an average of 31dB – what this means is that if you place a sound measuring device at one end of the room and another device playing audio at the other end (usually in a controlled environment and to specific level of sound) it will reduce it by this amount. Decibel reductions cannot be added together, so when using Tecsound S100 in a sound insulating system, applied directly to a wall or within one of our MuteClip® Systems, these results will differ and is not always possible to determine what level of soundproofing the Tecsound will provide in these composites.

Installation Guide

Tecsound S100 is a self-adhesive material, and when Tecsound arrives, you will find two sheets attached as you roll it out. One of them is a polypropylene fleece that helps increase the tear strength of the Tecsound, do not tear this off, the other is the removable protective covering to expose the adhesive, this is easy to peel off compared to the protective fleece. If you are unsure, peel a little off the corner to reveal the adhesive side.

You will want to install Tecsound over the joins of acoustic plasterboard and not meet them up to create an airtight system, the lesser joins, the better. With this in mind, when cutting Tecsound you will want to keep them as generous as possible without being challenging to manage, it is easy to cut with a new Stanley blade, and you will want to have at least two people during the installation.

Noise pollution is one the leading problems of the modern world today, and it has a profound and detrimental effect on both your health and wellbeing, it is even more critical now to seek a solution that will give you a tranquil space, ones that you can live in peacefully, and work in without distraction.

Tecsound SY70 (Half Roll) is a visco-elastic membrane, and this means it is both a viscous material, part way between a solid and a liquid, having elastic properties, meaning that it returns to its original form when stress is within its limits, like pulling an elastic band, if you pull it too hard it will break.

Tecsounds sweet spot for damping or ‘muting’ vibration does not often go into these ‘stresses’ in the majority of projects that need control over vibration.

The subjective nature of noise means your sensitivity to a specific sound or event will differ from others. These noises could be from disruption from footsteps above, or conversation from all directions, or even the loud, tin-like sound from the rain in contact with metal sheeting. Acoustic issues will vary for homes or workplaces, but it is our Tecsound SY70 that offers improvements in our acoustic systems, look for our ‘Pro’ and ‘Plus’ systems as these feature the use of Tecsound.

Tecsound SY70 is a 4mm thick, visco-elastic membrane that is accompanied with a self-adhesive backing to make direct application easier without the need for mechanical fixings, tacking or additional adhesives. Visco (viscous, a thick and often sticky consistency) elastic (when stretched will often return to its original state) is a malleable, dense and easy to cut product that sits between both its mechanical components. These make it suitable for reducing vibration and airborne noise issues as the two properties combined help to dissipate energy, meaning that when sound or vibration comes into contact with it, this sound energy turns into heat.

Essentially this highly versatile sound proofing material is applicable for floors, walls and ceilings, for cinema rooms, for sound proofing a bedroom or constructing composite acoustic systems for maximum performance.

One of Tecsound’s most astounding qualities is its reduction of vibration, and it will be a change you notice immediately upon direct application. The self-adhesive backing remains in constant and level contact with the surface it is applied to, which is why we opt for self-adhesive. Energy from any vibration conducted, especially from metal structures, is transferred into the Tecsound SY70, dissipated and results in a dampening of the resonance and removal of extended release of ringing often heard in metal structures.

Tecsound is often used between acoustic plasterboard to provide additional sound proofing properties, and the aim is to provide different densities and material composites to break down sound in different ways.

Vibration travels significant distances in metal structures, metal is, after all, a conductor of energy – and this includes sound energy. You will want to discuss these options with a registered plumbing expert to make sure it is suitable for use.

Tec sound SY70 can be used to soundproof waste flues, where often waste can be heard travelling down or across them which can be a highly uncomfortable situation when noises associated with these are heard, you should aim to box in the waste pipe if possible to improve results.

As an alternative, our MuteWrap™ works exceptionally well against sound proofing waste flues.

Bathrooms and wet rooms contain high amounts of vapour and moisture, which in time will begin to degrade Tecsound’s adhesive qualities and possibly damage it’s elasticity over time if it is exposed. Professionals generally recommend that Moisture Board is used internally in bathrooms to protect any sound proofing materials behind it and the use of Vapour Boards when concerning proximity to external walls – you will want to discuss the use of acoustic materials with a damp specialist when you are fitting into these areas.

Tecsound SY50AL is a 2mm thick, visco-elastic membrane that is accompanied with a self-adhesive backing to make direct application easier without the need for mechanical fixings, tacking or additional adhesives with an aluminium facing. Visco (viscous, a thick and often sticky consistency) elastic (when stretched will often return to its original state) is a malleable, dense and easy to cut product that sits between both these mechanical components, this makes it suitable for reducing vibration and airborne noise issues as the two properties combined help to turn sound energy into heat.
The aluminium facing of Tecsound S50AL is for decorative purposes only, for example – in industrial environments or when being applied to ducting or other metal structures it helps to blend in with the existing aesthetic instead of leaving the facing of Tecsound exposed.
Yes, it does, and it will be something you notice almost immediately. The self-adhesive backing is always in even contact with the surface, which is why we always opt for self-adhesive. Energy from the vibration, especially in metal structures, is absorbed into the Tecsound and the resonance is dampened, resulting in the removal of a long-delayed ring heard in the majority of metal structures. Tecsound is often used between acoustic plasterboard to provide additional sound proofing properties, and the aim is to provide different densities and material composites to break down frequencies in the most effective way possible.
Tecsound SY50 ALU is incredibly flexible because of its thickness, this makes it great for metal ducting and accommodates small jutting of fixtures – we would ask for some information about the ducting to make sure it is compatible in for your specific environment. Damp environments, for example, could lead to the adhesive becoming compromised over time. We would use Tecsound to dampen the long-tail resonance of sound in ductwork, and this would often not require complete coverage. In cases where the metal ducting leaks sound, we will aim to wrap the ducting to reduce sound transmission.

Yes, it does, and you will recognise this instantly when you apply it. The self-adhesive backing helps to make sure that the material is in full exposure, and is always in even contact with the surface, this is why we always opt for self-adhesive. Tecsound SY50 is highly malleable because of its thickness, which makes it great for metal ducting, we will need some information about the ducting would be good to make sure it is compatible in a specific environment. For example, humid environments could lead to the adhesive becoming compromised over time – we would use Tecsound here to dampen the extended vibrations, and would often not require a complete coverage to alleviate this, In cases where sound escapes the metal ducting we wrap Tecsound around to reduce the sound transmission.
Tecsound SY50’s temperature range is between -20°C to 60°C, anything above and below these could compromise performance with direct contact – it is best to create a form of boxing around these pipes if noise can be heard from them and apply Tecsound to the acoustic plasterboard boxing.

More Information

Information

  • 5.05m x 600mm x 4mm (3.03m2).

Tecsound SY70 is a single ply material, one that is primarily designed to be installed into acoustic systems, or used to be directly applied to metal cladding to dampen vibration. Our acoustic test data and performance is based on an acoustic curtain, where Tecsound separates two rooms and then measures its performance. When factored into a ‘System’ this will change as you cannot add dB levels together, you can learn more on our ‘Science of Soundproofing’ page.

If you tap on a metal structure, you will often hear it ring out – think of playing the steel drum or a triangle, then tap on a wooden block – which one has a longer decay time? Tecsound SY70 is perfect for the use of sound proofing metal ducting against vibration; this would often not require complete coverage of the ducting and maybe only in small parts. In cases where the metal ducting leaks sound, we will aim to wrap the ducting to reduce sound transmission.
Tecsound SY70 temperature range is between -20°C to 60°C, anything above and below these could compromise its stability and acoustic performance with direct contact – it is best to create a form of boxing around these pipes if noise can be heard from them and apply Tecsound to the acoustic plasterboard boxing.

Tecsound SY70, when hung as a curtain reduces sound has an average of 28dB – what this means is that if you place a sound measuring device at one end of the room and another device playing sound at the other end (usually in a controlled environment and to specific level of sound) it will reduce it by this amount. You cannot add decibels together, so when using Tecsound SY70 in a sound proofing system, applied directly to a wall or within one of our MuteClip® Systems, these results will differ and is not always possible to determine what level of sound proofing the Tecsound will provide in these composites.

Installation Guide

Tecsound SY70 is a self-adhesive material, and when Tecsound arrives, you will find two sheets attached as you roll it out.

MuteStrip

Dimensions: 6m x 50mm x 2.5mm

Weight: 400g

For: Homes, workplaces, industrial developments, and specialist audio environments.

Compliance: Compliant with both Part E Building Regulations (England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland).*

Installation: Please see our installation tab below.

Where Multi-use application on walls, floors and ceilings, with special focus on decoupling the structure to improve acoustic performance.

More Information

MuteStrip is an essential component for the damping of vibration in metal structures, and in decoupling building of stud-frames and flooring, joists to assist in decoupling the structure, an essential property of reducing structural-borne vibration and low-frequency noise through suspending the mass away.

MuteStrip is a visco-elastic material, and this means it is both a viscous material, part way between a solid and a liquid, and has elastic properties, meaning that it returns to its original form when stresses within its limits are applied, like pulling an elastic band, if you pull it too hard it will break.

It is also self-adhesive and will apply to an extensive range of building materials. This creates a great alternative for those who only need to apply small strips to certain areas to control vibration, instead of using Tecsound that comes in great sizes. MuteStrip will not falter under expected weights in most applications that are common in households and commercial properties, but with significant weights being applied that are not usually expected, then do let us know.

Information

  • To decouple stud framing and floating floor constructions, essential for projects that require low-frequency or vibration control
  • Apply to metal to reduce any form of ringing, or metallic like sound including forms of rattling
  • Easy to cut and manage
  • Visco-elastic material
  • Self-adhesive strip that applied to both timber and metal
Perimeter Edging Strip should be applied around the perimeter of each room to where hard flooring comes in to contact with the adjacent wall, so with the fitting of new timber flooring it should be installed at joist level to the final floor finish level, in acoustic under screeding in concrete constructions, you will want to make sure full coverage is available to reduce contact with the adjacent concrete walls.

MuteStrip can also be used to sound proof floors with space at a premium by separating the sub-floor from the joists, reducing impact and vibration travelling into the structure.

Our alternative product for floors that will allow for additional floor heights, do take a look at our Isolation Strip.

MuteStrip is a visco-elastic strip that helps to sound proof against structural-borne vibration, so where any metal work is concerned or any machinery that conducts problematic vibration, MuteStrip can be applied. Because it has a high-grab self-adhesive backing, it is incredibly easy to install – it has been used with speaker placements, and it has also been used to de-couple air conditioning units where fixings are placed to reduce the transfer amount of vibration travelling into walls.
MuteStrip is a highly dense sound proof material and would need to be subject to a significant amount of weight before it compresses. In most cases, it will not be a concern, but with any questions you may have or where high amounts of small point weight is going to be applied – please do contact us

Installation Guide

Make sure to peel the paper covering off to expose the self-adhesive face, do not pull off the meshing on the reverse, this protects and holds the material together.

MuteStrip must be installed on to a clean surface, one that is debris and oil free to remain in place.
