Solution
Mixed wall and ceiling treatment
The Project
Treehouse Café is a lively social space where multiple groups talk and play games at the same time. As activity increased, reflected sound built up across the café, making the environment noisy and potentially disruptive for customers and staff.
Developing the treatment was particularly challenging because windows, artwork, lighting, furniture, merchandise and café equipment occupied much of the available surface area. Songbird used a combination of suspended ceiling panels and carefully positioned wall panels to introduce absorption wherever space allowed.

White ceiling rafts and small wall panels fit around the café’s windows and lighting.
Wall panels make use of narrow spaces around doorways and artwork.
Large ceiling rafts provide acoustic absorption above the café counter.
01
Assess
Review the café layout, customer activity and limited available treatment areas.
02
Design
Develop a creative mixed wall and ceiling layout around the windows, lighting, artwork and operational equipment.
03
Install
Coordinate the installation around the functioning café and its existing interior.
The Result
The completed scheme reduces the build up of reflected sound and creates a more comfortable environment for customers to talk and play. The panels have been integrated throughout the café without detracting from its distinctive character.
