Bespoke panel layout
The Project
St John’s Hall suffered from very poor room acoustics. Sound reflected repeatedly from the hard surfaces, making conversation and group activities difficult, particularly when several people were speaking.
Songbird assessed the room and designed an acoustic panel layout around its size, finishes and different uses. The treatment was positioned to introduce effective sound absorption while retaining the open and welcoming appearance of the hall.
Explore our church hall acoustic treatment page for more information.
White ceiling rafts provide absorption above the hall’s open floor.
A symmetrical raft layout follows the pitch of the ceiling.
Suspended panels sit alongside the timber beam and existing pendant lights.
Central and angled rafts create a coordinated ceiling treatment.
01
Assess
Review the hall dimensions, finishes and typical community uses.
02
Design
Calculate the required treatment and identify the most effective panel locations.
03
Install
Supply and install the complete treatment with minimal interruption to the hall.
The Result
The installed panels reduced the build up of reflected sound, making speech easier to understand and the room more comfortable for meetings, events and community activities.
