Noise Impact Assessment of a Quarry / Mineral Extraction Site.
Extracting minerals from the ground can’t physically be achieved without emitting noise. Regardless; when an extraction site is located within earshot of homes and business premises, certain criteria must be met to comply with the Local Planning Policy.
AJL Stone Sales Ltd were acutely aware of this, and as a result approached our team acoustic experts to carry out a noise impact assessment in accordance with the Mineral Planning Guidance after making the decision to begin extracting minerals at a new quarry located in West Yorkshire.
We measured sound levels at several locations close to the site, following which we provided a comprehensive report to the team at AJL outlining exactly what noise emissions could be expected from the machinery and processes they intended to use at the quarry, along with practical advice on how to minimise them and comply with relevant regulations.
