MuteBloc™

Dimensions: 720mm x 610mm x 130mm

Weight: 30kg

For: Gymnasiums, fitness centres and home workout areas.

Installation: Simply place under weight drops areas.

Where: For providing maximum protection against professional weight-bar drops, and for smaller weight drops in sensitive areas.

A highly durable, soft-padded and mobile gym soundproofing platform for use against disruptive impact noise or vibration.

More Information

MuteBloc™ is our high quality, robust and high performing pad to significantly reduce impact transmission from the dropping of weights. It is designed primarily (but not exclusively) for gyms that focus on cutting noise issues associated with weight drops, including Crossfit activities to where materials are thrown or dropped, substantial free-weight sections and its most valued arrangement – with dead-lift platforms.

We supply each purchase of MuteBloc™ in pairs as this allows you to drop the weight bars from a height. With the MuteBloc™ in place, the weight bars can be dropped from a height and the suspension and density of the product help to ‘block’ the downward sound energy by transferring it into the MuteBloc™.

By muting the impact noise from moving into the structure and the properties or rooms below, this reduces both shock and vibration which causes the majority of complaints from neighbouring properties of both commercial and residential environments.

Information

  • 725mm x 620mm x 130mm (Set of two)
  • PVC 600gsm casing with a heavy-duty zip
  • The specific density of foam to absorb impact
  • Only weighs 10kg
  • Highly durable with fitted and flat straps to avoid trip hazards
  • Double-stitched seams
  • Gripped base to avoid movement
  • Additional colours are available
MuteBloc™ is a combination of dense materials inserted to the casing that have been vigorously researched and tested to deal with a vast range of weight drops with the sole purpose of being used to dramatically reduce impact noise. MuteBlocs™ are sold in pairs, as each will allow the weight-lifter to drop the weight bar on to them safely and without fear of causing disruption to the Gym through blunt impact. We would recommend a pair in each weightlifting area so that coverage is constant and there is not a wait for each pair. This will also reduce disruption to other clients who may be disrupted by any large impact noise.
Heavy weight lifting areas that require the best soundproofing available for the immediate reduction of impact noise, especially when close to noise sensitive areas to where perhaps the availability for a floor covering is not possible, or when sound insulation values are very high and the impact of such weight to neighbouring properties could be detrimental. If you have a certain type of flooring that requires protection from weight drops, MuteBloc™ would work perfectly here too.
Each MuteBloc is compact and accompanied with a handle on each for ease of carrying, whether that is to another Gym or within a Gym itself. They are built to be incredibly robust with fine zip-work and build quality.
With any proposed Gym we recommend carrying out a Noise Impact Assessment to help us specify the correct acoustic insulation systems and sound proofing materials for their intended uses. Both impact noise and airborne noise are a major concern when Gyms are found in shared building complexes, or adjacent or perhaps even just in close proximity to other properties – especially residential. Certain noise ratings need to be achieved with Gyms to avoid potential or inevitable disruption, and the outcomes of each can only be calculated through this assessment.

MuteMat® Gym 70

Performance: 26dB impact sound reduction

Dimensions: 610mm x 610mm x 70mm

Weight: 11.34kg

For: Gymnasiums, fitness centres and home workout areas.

Compliance: Suitable for a wide range of acoustic requirements for Gyms and Fitness centres.

Where: Floor application for free weight areas, personal training spaces and for the use of machine operated apparatus.

A highly durable, compression moulded and easy to install gym soundproofing platform for use against disruptive impact noise or vibration.

More Information

MuteGym™ 70 is our superbly engineered, very high performing, but yet still easy to install gym soundproofing platform designed for offering maximum protection against both excessive impact noise from weight-drops and structural-borne vibration across professional and commercial gyms, dedicated workout areas at home, and even workplace gym features.

Each MuteGym™ is engineered with Compression Moulded technology to create a final product that is precise, consistent and effective. Each module has a ring-like pedestal structure moulded to the underside during the compression process, which provides both optimal acoustic decoupling with the structural flooring and suspension to drastically reduce very high levels of impact noise.

For each soundproofing material, you will often find that to achieve specific sound insulation values you will need to combine them with additional products to create a complete soundproofing system that is best suited, you can find all systems in which MuteGym™ 70 is incorporated into by selecting the ‘Systems’ tab above.

Information

  • 610mm x 610mm x 70mm (0.372m2)
  • ΔLw 26dB impact sound reduction.
  • Recycled rubber at 93%, compression moulded for increased density
  • 13.15kg (35.35kg per m2)
  • Kros-Lock interlocking design
  • Slip-resistant design

The design of MuteGym™ 70 is for the attenuation of impact noises in free-weight areas, where significant weights could cause massive disruption to both neighbouring residents and clients, dumbbell areas containing lighter free-weights, and machine-operated apparatus such as treadmills and spin cycles. All these examples generate high levels of middle to low-frequency vibration during operation. Structural vibration is a significant concern for the activities featured above, and MuteGym™ 70 is the perfect place to start.

Understanding the structure and what it is constructed of is important in the proposal of a new gym – how may affect any neighbouring properties is incredibly important, and with this we would always recommend to conduct a comprehensive Noise Impact Assessment during the planning stage, not only for selecting the correct acoustic materials and reducing perhaps problematic complaints with neighbours, but also the successful planning of internal rooms too. The dropping of free-weights, weight-stacks that are machine operated and even the use of light cardio machinery such as treadmills or spin areas can cause problems with impact noise and vibration, for where maximum protection is required.

MuteGym™ 70 is a perfect, dedicated soundproofing gym product for reducing an array of impact noise issues structural borne vibration, such as those above. It can be installed in personal gyms at home all the way up to professional level specialist and commercial gyms that can often be found in multi purpose complexes where residences, restaurants and even shops all share the same structure, and all of which are affected by structural borne vibration.

When a high level impact noise insulation value is required, MuteGym™ 70 is best to use. It’s coverage includes areas involving free-weights, machine weights and cross-fit areas – all where impact noise levels are found in excessive amounts. MuteGym™ comprises of a highly effective ring structure on the bottom that helps limit the amount of contact with the sub floor and provides not only something stable and robust, but also a final floor finish without requiring any additional finishes.
With the affordability of home gym equipment, these are appearing even in the most humblest of homes – even a treadmill or cycling machine. MuteGym™ 51 can be used at home to help soundproof against impact and vibration, often finding incredible results in concrete structures, but will often be lessened in timber. If it is used in a timber construction, and additional compressible mat may be best used in conjunction to act as a platform area. With heavy-free weights, something more substantial may need to be put in place to reduce excessive noise disturbing your neighbours. Gym equipment for the home has become highly affordable for a vast majority, whether it’s a set of dumbbells, a cycling machine or a expansive selection of equipment – if you have neighbours, or rooms located adjacent to bedrooms in your own home, it is safe to say you will need a form of soundproofing to reduce potential complaints. MuteGym™ 70 can be used at home to help soundproof against impact and vibration, often with incredible results in concrete structures. If it is used in a timber construction an additional compressible mat may be best used in conjunction to act as a platform area. With heavy-free weights, something more substantial may need to be put in place to reduce excessive noise disturbing your neighbours.
MuteGym™ 70 is our most robust and dedicated tile of the MuteGym™ modular series, especially made for free weight areas. With the use of free-weights, remember, it is important to carry out Noise Impact Assessments in developments with adjoining properties. Depending on the level of soundproofing you need to achieve, the MuteGym™ 70 can be combined with out MuteGym™ SFP 17 to gain maximum soundproofing insulation against structural borne vibration.

The design of all our MuteGym™ products is a simple Kros Lok pattern set up to be installed in modular form. These will often require bonding to the substrate in which you can find all information out on adhesives and which is best to use in a range of applications on our Related PDFs tab.

Are there any other areas of soundproofing that I should use in addition to the flooring, and with helping to treat the high amount of echo and reverberation?

With MuteGym™ 70 specified on the floor, you are helping to vastly improve the reduction of impact transmission and the effects it can have on both timber and concrete structures, but there are of course other areas that will need further soundproofing to make certain your Gym is doing all it can to mitigate noise issues. A Noise Impact Assessment will take all of these areas and issues into account, and point us in the right direction of what to specify. In most cases a suspended acoustic ceiling is required in conjunction with any areas involving free-weights to reduce any major vibration causing potential damaging to fixtures and fittings, as well further mitigation of the impact noise, walls and ceilings adjacent and above rooms also require soundproofing, as leaving these areas untreated could lead to flanking transmission or simply transferring directly to properties that require the same level of treatment that are not located in your property.

You will want to consider factoring in our MuteClip® Stud Double Plus systems in all wall and ceiling areas.

In addition to this, gyms are often constructed with hard and reflective surfaces for these are easier to clean. But, when personal training or important instructions are conveyed with clients the message if often lost in these large, open and reverberant spaces, lowering the quality and impact of the classes and putting significant strain on the speaker’s vocals, this can lead to negative health effects, as well as causing stress to the clients listening out for instructions. With this in mind, we would often look to improve the internal acoustics of each room with our sound absorption materials, any from our NoteRange – to assist with reducing reverberation in the different spaces.

MuteMat®Gym 15 is part of the the MuteRange core – this is our broad range of acoustic insulation materials that have been subjected to stringent testing in both laboratory and real-world environments to provide you with the best possible solution for the purpose with a result you can trust. In Gym Soundproofing it is essential to find long-lasting materials, that do not falter, or that crumble after short periods of use – with MuteMat® Gym you can rest easy without the weight of soundproofing and all its intricacies on your shoulders.

The importance of the correct specification of acoustic materials to be installed in each Gym, especially those located in multipurpose structures or that are even adjacent to residential properties, is paramount – all manner of noise issues need to be tackled in different methods and to the correct noise level to avoid any potential neighbour complaints on both a residential or commercial level, this reinforces the importance of carrying out a Gym Noise Impact Assessment for any proposed gym, as any council based complaints could result in the discontinuation of your premises. With the vast range of activities that often take place in Gyms, each will present their own acoustic challenges that range from cross-fit areas to yoga, pilates or Zumba classes, for example, and when such noise sensitive areas are adjacent or in close proximity to one another you will want to consider how this could affect such activities and the result of the overall engagement within them without damaging the experience your customers receive. Your brand and the feedback you receive is important for continued success, and NOVA Acoustics Ltd can help provide this with an initial Noise Impact Assessment and then specification of the best product to suit your needs.

The selection of MuteMat® Gym modular tiles come in a range of thicknesses that have different intended uses with each design for a range of different activities, or to achieve a targeted specified minimum noise level. A highly durable, compression moulded and easy to install gym soundproofing platform for use against excessive impact noise or vibration.

More Information

MuteGym™ 51 is our highly engineered, high performing and easy to install floor soundproofing platform specially designed for improving Gym acoustics offering protection against both excessive impact noise and structural-borne vibration in professional and commercial gyms, dedicated workout areas at home, and even gym facilities areas in workplaces.

Each MuteGym™ is engineered with Compression Moulded technology to create a precise, consistent and effective acoustic platform with a ring-like pedestal structure moulded to the underside during the compression process to limit direct contact with the floor, and this helps to ‘cushion’ significant levels of impact noise and vibration.

For each soundproofing material, you will often find that to achieve individual specific sound insulation values you will need to combine them with additional products to create a complete soundproofing system that is best suited, you can find all systems in which MuteGym™ 51 is incorporated into by selecting the ‘Systems’ tab above.

  • Kros-Lock interlocking design
  • Slip-resistant design

The design of MuteGym™ 51 is for the reduction of general foot traffic in noise sensitive areas, dumbbell areas containing free-weights, and areas that feature machine operated apparatus such as the use of treadmills and spin cycles. These all transfer a significant amount of sound energy into the structure that disrupts internal and external areas.

Stopping structural-borne noise requires a variety of different soundproofing methods to have it reduced to what is referred to as a ‘background noise level’, complete blocking and isolation of sound will require a significant amount of protection. It is recommended during the proposal stage of any Gym that is in the same structure as other properties both residential and commercial, as well as adjacent to to the gym, to carry out a Noise Impact Assessment to assist with the planning of soundproofing, helping to provide information on how to best avoid noise complaints and further complications arising with neighbouring developments and with the internal planning of the Gym. Impact noise is one of the more major concerns of gyms, dropping heavy weights, the continuous impact of running machines and use of cross-fit all make to be an incredibly loud environment. MuteGym™ 51 can be used in both small home gyms all the way up to professional specialist and commercial gyms which are often found in multi purpose complexes where residences, restaurants and shops all share the same structure, and all of which can be affected by the effects of structural borne vibration.
Running machines, weighted-machines and cross-fit areas are just a few areas in which MuteGym™ 51 is effective, it’s ring structure helps limit the amount of contact with floor and provides not only something stable and robust, but also a final floor finish without needing any additional finishes.
With the affordability of home gym equipment, these are appearing even in the most humblest of homes – even a treadmill or cycling machine. MuteGym™ 51 can be used at home to help soundproof against impact and vibration, often finding incredible results in concrete structures, but will often be lessened in timber. MuteGym™ 51 is the perfect solution to help reduce structural borne vibration caused by blunt, heavy impact, but another major consideration is reducing airborne noise through walls and ceilings, and this can often include the ceiling below. Depending on the level of reduction required, suspended ceilings often need to be put in place to further reduce vibration, again this will be something considered in the Noise Impact Assessment. Wall soundproofing is another important consideration as sound will move into the airspace around the room and move directly in to the rooms adjacent and causing problematic flanking transmission, and the same for ceilings, ceiling soundproofing also wants to be considered to reduce to noise transfer to neighbours above. At this stage, you will want to consider reviewing our MuteClip® Stud Double Plus systems in all wall and ceiling areas.

With loud music often found in gyms, these will benefit from a form of isolation from the structure as direct fixings could lead to vibration transferring back in to the structure, especially where low frequencies are concerned.

In addition to this, gyms are often full hard and reflective surfaces, they are easy to lean. – But, when personal training and important instructions are being carried out – the message can be lost in these often large, open and reverberant spaces, lowering the quality of the classes and putting significant strain on the speaker’s vocals and the people listening. With this in mind, we would often look to specify sound absorption products, such as our NoteRange – to assist with reducing reverberation in the different spaces.

The selection of MuteMat® Gym modular tiles come in a range of thicknesses that have different intended uses with each design for a range of different activities, or to achieve a targeted specified minimum noise level. You can find these variations below or contact our team to begin putting together a full solution alongside our Noise Impact Assessments for your Gym today

MuteStop™

Dimensions: 65m x 65mm x 12mm (per unit)

Weight: 8.66kg

For: Weight machines with a guide shaft diameter of <21mm

Installation: Follow recommendations shown in our Installation tab below.

Where: Applying directly to the guide-shaft of weight machines to reduce the impact of weights slamming.

A set of 4 highly resistant, jig-saw cut-out rings that are applied directly to the guide-shaft of weight machines without having to reassemble the apparatus.

More Information

MuteStop™ is our solution to reducing the significant impact noise found in pulled-weight machines, and by innovative we mean that you do not need to take apart your already existing apparatus, its jigsaw-like interlocking groove offers a direct fitting to the guide-shaft, a first in the gym soundproofing world.

Reducing impact noise is important in both preventing structural borne vibration by the dropping of heavyweights that collide simply on to other weights below it, and to reduce the excessive shaking of the equipment, which over time could extend its lifetime. There are three densities that offer different levels of compressibility, and each combination is responsive to specific weight drops. The recommended combinations are found in our handy guide found towards the bottom of this page. This not only helps to reduce structural borne vibration, but internal disruption from weights clashing creating disruptive airborne noise.

Information

  • 65mm x 12mm x 21mm (diameter of the hole).
  • Interlocking groove for ease of installation to the guide shaft.
  • Each selection comes in sets of 4 – please do see below on the variations under ‘Weight Guidelines’.

MuteStop™ should be used in conjunction with additional gym soundproofing materials, especially when there are acoustic targets or regulations set by local authorities. For the proposal of new gyms, we would heavily recommend a comprehensive Gym Noise Impact Assessment to provide a detailed report and what measures need to be taken to avoid disruption to local neighbours, especially when they are located in multi-use dwellings, and when residences are in close proximity.

MuteStop™ is part of the iKoustic MuteRange core – this is our broad range of acoustic materials that have been subjected to stringent testing in both laboratory and real-world environments to provide you with the best possible solution for the purpose with a result you can trust. With Gym Soundproofing it is important to find materials that are long-lasting, and highly effective without deviation in the material quality – with MuteStop™ you can rest easy without the weight of noise issues on your shoulders.

In proposal of new Gyms or any neighbour noise complaints with existing gyms, we would recommend to always carry out a Noise Impact Assessment or a General Impact Noise acoustic test (depending on the scenario) to help us specify the right solution for you, and help to mitigate future or ongoing noise issues with any neighbouring properties. MuteStop™ works at source by heavily reducing the impact between weights on a range of stack-weight machinery, reducing the vibration transferring into the apparatus itself and limiting structural borne vibration. It will also soften the airborne noise created through the impact of the weights. The MuteStop™ is incredibly efficient at soundproofing for the cost and ease of installation.

It is used between selected weight slabs by inserting on to the guide shaft, depending on the intended overall weights used there are different densities of MuteStop: Brown is the softest of the three for lightweight drops, Red is the medium level density of medium weight drops and Grey is the most dense of all three for the heavy weight drops. We combine each of these densities to gain optimum levels of compression in a range of ways, you will find this on the main product description lower down on the page of what combinations are best for intended weight ranges.
Each MuteStop is cut into a jig-saw like insertion so that it can be applied to the guide shaft without having to disassemble the entire apparatus, all you will need is a safety buffer between the weights to insert the MuteStop safely, with of course somebody strong enough to lift such weights – we hope this is the case.
With the MuteStop in place, there is an immediate tackling of the impact transference at source, but with airborne noise issues in the room we
